Description:
Sharpened, angry. Slum Village and Thelonious Monk reverberate in the reverberations of post-punk. EABS is a Polish band known for its collaborations with flutist Tenderlonious and track maker who leads South London's 22a Crew, "a singularity of UK jazz". This dirty, brilliant, beautifully ferocious recording, which emerged from a spur-of-the-moment session off the EABS tour in the summer of 2018, references '90s NY boombap like Wu-Tang Clan and Company Flow, but also includes a warm, enveloping ambience and a strong, unmistakable sense of the band's roots, The band believes in the harmony of warm, enveloping ambience and intricate playing that redefines jazz from a sonic perspective, and is filled with a powerful wisdom that refuses to be redefined by anyone else's name." The age of the earth in crisis, clear social divisions, hate speech, growing nationalism, police brutality, nepotism, and various political dealings. All of this is happening before our very eyes. The soil of the world as we know it is being eroded right now." The band's name, "Mud," and the title, "Erosion," are an honest expression of the anger, conflict, and discomfort they feel in these times. However, as a musical expression, the sound image is devoid of any so-called preachy ostentation or easy and direct gestures, and the image that the organic performance without any pretension evokes in the listener, as if glimpsing a spontaneous and unusual routine from the underground, is a rich store of information shared by some with Slum Village, others with Thelonious Monk, and still others with the deep and wide-ranging music of BADBADNOTGOOD and Radiohead. The images evoked by the band's unrestrained, organic playing are rich in information that can be shared with a deep and wide range of music, including Slum Village for some, Thelonious Monk for others, and BADBADNOTGOOD and Radiohead for still others. This work will be released in a limited Japanese edition design in collaboration with Astigmatic Records, an up-and-coming London label that shares the air of the times, but is distinct from the local scene, and includes Cykada, a member of the Ezra Collective. The striking artwork is on craft paper. The impressive artwork is produced using kraft paper sleeves, which provide a rough and comfortable texture linked to the sound. The Japanese edition includes a live recording of an unreleased song as a bonus track.
