The first new work in three years is inspired by migratory birds that travel the world. He renovated an unused nursery into his own music studio, "Kebi Bird Studio," and continues to experiment with marimba and synthesizer, which he first introduced on his 2021 album "Bird Ambience," while skillfully reconstructing the sound of the vibraphone that has become synonymous with his work. This album features guest artists such as Moor Mother's poetry reading (Our Mother's Lights), Hatis Noit's vocals (Higurashi), and new additions of the sho and saxophone used in gagaku (ancient Japanese court music). During a residency in Stockholm, Sweden in 2021, Fujita met Swedish composer and sho player Matthias Hallsten, who visited Fujita's studio when he came to Japan and played the sho on three pieces, including "Yodaka". His father, a lifelong musician, brought his saxophone, and the two spent time together in the studio, recording three wonderful pieces.These ideas and images are inspired by my own experiences of living abroad and returning home, combined with those of the artists on the album, who have also crossed borders and lived in foreign countries, but are somehow guided by their own roots.
