Description:

Hiroshima-based artist Mei Ding, who has been in the limelight of the global electronic and ambient scene for his one-of-a-kind originality in the motif of old Japanese culture, has released "Kofu III," the final chapter of his "Kofu" trilogy. Based on Mei Ding's interpretation, this is an amber of Japanese mental landscapes with a literary and personal flavor. LOST JAPANESE MOOD" = "the atmosphere of Japan that is being lost" is the theme of this album, which combines ambient music and music concrete to reconstruct nostalgic soundscapes of Japan's old history and culture that have been forgotten over time. The work "Kofu III" is the first of its kind in the world. This album, "Kofu III," is the conclusion of the "Kofu" trilogy, following "Kofu" (2020) and "Kofu II" (2021). This latest work invites listeners on a spiritual journey of Mei Ching's overcoming the darkness of the mind through tranquility and self-discovery, while delving deeply into the essence of Japanese culture. The "Kofu" episode and its predecessor, "Kwaidan," were produced in Onomichi, Hiroshima, Mei Tei's hometown. While living in solitude, he found comfort in the quiet and peaceful energy of Onomichi, and began to create music with the theme of "LOST JAPANESE MOOD," which embodies the mysterious essence of Japan that is being lost. He began to create music under the theme of "LOST JAPANESE MOOD".This work, "Kofu III," reflects particularly strongly the emotional landscape of the hometown he experienced during that period, and also shows how his inner search for self developed into a deep healing process. The songs "Dawn" and "Hiroshima," which examine the ever-changing image of Japan, along with the complex relationship and thoughts of Meitei himself with his hometown of Hiroshima, and "Peace," which condenses Meitei's deep consideration of peace education in Hiroshima and the important significance of recognizing the historical tragedy, are also songs that depict the inner landscape of Meitei's mind, as well as songs by Edogawa Ranpo, Tanizaki Junichiro, Natsume Soseki, and others. The album also includes "Edogawa Rampo," "Shisei," "Ten Nights of Dreams," and nine other pieces that draw on influences from Japanese literature by Edogawa Rampo, Tanizaki Junichiro, Natsume Soseki, and others. Kofu III" will connect us to the past with invisible threads through the mysterious landscapes deep in the heart of Mei Ding, and lead us to the hidden treasures of Japan's veiled and anonymous history and private traces of its past.
