Description:

The long-awaited remastered reissue of "Utp_" from 2009, the fourth in the series of collaborations between Alva Noto, who leads the world music scene with his unique approach, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Released in 2009, "Utp_" is the fourth collaborative album by German sound artist Karsten Nicolai, aka Alva Noto, and Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, and is the first album to be released under the V.I.R.U.S. (Viles) label. S.> (V.I.R.U.S.) series. In this collaborative project with an impressionistic feel, the two artists from different generations share the idea of electronic music as a source of inspiration for new musical structures, and have collaborated on several albums, including "Vrioon" (2002), "Insen" (2005), "Revep" (2006), "Utp_" (2006), and "V.I.R.U.S." (2006). (2006), "Utp_" (2009), and "Summvs" (2011), the five works in the series explore meditative sound worlds that combine expressive richness, breath, and precise design, while fusing electronic and acoustic sounds.(The name is composed of the initial letters of the five albums in the series.) This album was produced for the 400th anniversary of the city of Mannheim, Germany. The title "Utp_" is taken from the word "utopia," a rasterization of the city of Mannheim in southwestern Germany, founded in 1608, and the ten songs that flow and unfold from that structure took shape. This recording is a recording of the world premiere with the German contemporary music chamber ensemble Ensemble Modern, which took place at the National Theater in Mannheim. The palette of sounds based on electronics and piano, combined with Ensemble Modern's avant-garde ensemble that expands the possibilities of classical instruments, creates a world that embraces both tension and serene beauty.
