Tamas Wells

Description:

Tamas Wells, the "voice of an angel" who has remained unchanged for 20 years, releases long-awaited new album for the first time in six yearsTamas Wells, the Melbourne-based Australian singer-songwriter who has been described as "the voice of an angel," has released his long-awaited new album, his seventh in total, after a six-year hiatus. To Drink up the Sea, finally completed after the Corona disaster and the death of his father, follows the evergreen band sound of his previous album, The Plantation, released in 2017, which was the first album to fully introduce bass and drums, while also breaking new musical ground. The album also ventures into new musical territory. The album was produced by Greg J. Walker, aka Machine Translations, an Australian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who Tamas has long been a big fan of. The organic acoustic sound is based on piano and acoustic guitar, and Walker's lush arrangements on cello, violin, mandolin, clarinet, and other instruments will linger in your ears for a long time. The preceding single, "It Shakes the Living Daylights from You," is particularly noteworthy, as it combines Tamas Wells' greatest weapon, the beautiful, neutral, multi-tracked harmonies of his voice, with the soft psychedelic folk of Greg J. Walker's unique style. The new ground is extremely addictive. The album title ("Drinking Up the Sea") is a line from the writings of German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. If we "drink up the sea," can we sail in it? is the essence of the song that Tamás Wells writes, an abstract question that he senses from the nihilism of Nietzsche, who advocated the "death of God. The special quality of Tamás Wells' voice, which permanently holds together what once captivated the heart, has not changed in the nearly 20 years since the artist first appeared on the scene.
