The band is one of the leading representatives of indie rock in the U.S., and their last album was released by Gregg Kirstein. While the previous album was produced by Greg Kurstin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foster the People), this is the band's first self-produced album by James Mercer. The lead track, "Name For You," was inspired by James Mercer's own three daughters and is a cheerleader's song for women. The wide range of lyrical themes throughout the album is impressive, with freely unleashed lyrics such as "Fantasy Island" and "Rubber Ballz," which can be seen as stories about imaginary characters, the humorous daydream-like "Dead Alive," and "Mildenhall," a song about himself, The band's music is expanding its range.The band will begin an album tour in March with some changes to the members. Although the band seems to be undergoing a renewal, James Mercer's sense of style is carried through in his melodies and vocals.
