Billy No Mates is the project of Bristol musician Tor Maries. Her second album, CACTI, has been supported by Iggy Pop, Florence Welch, Steve Albini, Sleaford Mods, and more. Billy Nomates, the project of Bristol songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Tor Maries, will release her highly anticipated second studio album, CACTI, in January 2023 on Invada Records. Recorded at her flat and Invada Studios, CACTI is the follow-up to her 2020 self-titled debut album (which received massive airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music and endorsements from Iggy Pop, Florence Welsh, and Steve Albini. The album is a major step up for Tor, further developing her intuitive and inventive songwriting and production and, like her debut, leaves no regrets.Unafraid to delve into the traumas of the past two years, the eerie apathy that lingers in the mind, as well as heartache and political themes, this 12-song collection candidly confronts uncomfortable truths, as Tor puts it.
