Alan Sparhawk is best known for his work with the legendary band Lowe. Born of Grief but Aimed at Freeing the Soul (Spirit), White Roses, My God, Released on Sub Pop Sub Pop is pleased to announce the release of Alan Sparhawk's solo debut, White Roses, My God. He is best known for his 30-year run with the legendary band Low, but a look at Sparhawk's numerous side projects during that same period shows that he experimented with everything from punk and funk to production work and improvisation. Low was always a collaboration, a conversation, a romance between Sparhawk and Mimi Parker, his wife, band co-founder, drummer, co-lead vocalist, and irreplaceable "heart". Parker passed away in 2022 after a long battle with cancer.There is no doubt that White Roses, My God is a record born of grief. But it is reductive, even foolish, to see "grief" as the sole source or ultimate limitation of this taut, brilliant, provocative, and thrilling album of bold experimentation backed by profound lyrics and propulsive beats. White Roses, My God is an exorcism that aims to set the soul (spirit) free, not banish it. Recorded at 20 Below Studios in Duluth, Minnesota, White Roses, My God was co-produced and engineered by Alan Sparhawk and Nat Harvie, mixed by Harvie, and mastered by Heba Kadry.
