Ken Ishii and Susumu Yokota, two masterpieces that were released in 1994 and made the Japanese techno sound known to the world, are remastered and reissued on 180G heavy vinyl LP! Ken Ishii is a musician and DJ at the pinnacle of techno, and his 1994 album "Reference to Difference," a game changer for me personally and for Japanese electronic music in general, is a somewhat underrated masterpiece today. Reissued and remastered in celebration of Music Mine Records' 30th anniversary and released for the first time on analog vinyl with the original track listing, this amazing hidden masterpiece deserves to be rediscovered.Born in Sapporo in 1970, Ishii was exposed to electronic music from a young age through arcade games and Japanese and German pioneers such as Yellow Magic Orchestra, Isao Tomita, and Kraftwerk. As a teenager, he absorbed new wave, synthpop, EBM, and industrial, and in the late 80s, his life was transformed when he encountered Detroit techno. Intelligence" compilations, and incorporated the new IDM, Brain Dance, and Ambient Techno influences from the UK and US into his aesthetic.Reference To Difference is a fusion of ambient atmospheres, space-age techno, IDM, and minimalist compositions that belong nowhere else, unfolding as a series of exercises in pure synth textures, human/machine rhythms, and understated melodies. in the golden age of the mid-90s. teleporting listeners to the moment when a devoted generation, rising from the legendary clubs of Tokyo, shared with the world the innovation, energy, and creativity of Japan's unique techno culture. maniac Love, which opened in 1993, was Manabu Yamazaki's (DJ Yama) sublime party. It was a new nightclub that hosted Manabu Yamazaki (DJ Yama) sublime parties and became the center of the Tokyo underground.Here Yamazaki interacted with Ken Ishii and Susumu Yokota, and the futures of the three intersected. Like Ishii, the late Susumu Yokota reached out to Europe early in his musical career. Shortly before Ishii released his debut album, Garden On The Palm, through Belgium's R&S, Yokota released his debut LP, The Frankfurt-Tokyo Connection, on Harthouse, co-founded by German Sven V?th.
