OTO" is an album produced with this in mind. I have been trying to fuse Japanese instruments and traditional music with club music, which I myself have been facing. The attempt to fuse these two was by no means an easy one. Western music emphasizes rhythm, while Japanese music places importance on pauses.The process of connecting and weaving these two distances was experimental, creative, and meaningful. The sound is fresh and exciting for me as an unmistakably Japanese person, for my like-minded colleagues, and for music fans around the world who are drawn to this distant and mysterious island nation.
