Lowe, the founder of slowcore, is celebrating the band's 25th anniversary in 2018. Low, the originators of slowcore, are celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2018 with the release of their 12th album, Double Negative, on Sub Pop. The band will release their 12th album, "Double Negative," in September 2018 on Sub Pop, their first album in three years. For "Double Negative," Low has once again tapped B.J. Burton, a producer based at Justin Vernon's (Bon Iver) April Base studio, who has worked with James Blake, Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso, and more. He also worked on Low's previous album, 2015's Ones and Sixes.Instead of writing and rehearsing songs at their home in their hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, the band spent several days with B.J. Burton in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where April Base is located, with sketches and ideas for the album. The work was built up, deconstructed, and reassembled repeatedly until the objectives were clear, and the band and this producer became closely immersed in the production process, even becoming co-songwriters. This process was repeated several times over the last two years, and the material was listened to again and again on tour and off. The band did not only consider how these pieces would fit together, but how they would serve as a statement and comfort in the United States in 2018. The result is Double Negative, an album that resonates with us perfectly and poignantly.
