British-born, now New York-based artist Fenne Lily releases her new album, "Big Picture," on Dead Oceans.Big Picture, a gorgeous portrait of Fenne's past two years of self-healing The album was produced and is a stunning cathartic experience. Writing this album was an attempt to bring some sort of order to the catastrophe that is 2020. By documenting the most vulnerable parts of our time, I felt as if I had regained a kind of autonomy," says Fenne. Contemplative yet candid, Big Picture is Fenne's most cohesive and resolute work to date, both lyrically and sonically. 'This is not a sad album, it's as uplifting as my methods will allow.Love is a process, not something to be lost or found," she says. The 10 songs on the album are Fenne's first and only written in the process of falling in love; both 2018's "On Hold" and 2020's "Breach" confront the pain of retrospection, saying goodbye to a love that has passed. Big Picture," on the other hand, is the exact opposite, tracing the story of two people who are firmly rooted in the present and working hard not to fall apart, together. After writing "Big Picture" in the solitude of his Bristol apartment, Fenne consciously set out to make the recording process his most collaborative to date. Co-producing with Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Kevin Morby, Snail Mail) at a studio in Durham, Fenne intended to create something warm, honest, and comforting in sound that would represent the compact space in which the songs were written. The recording featured Christian Lee Hutson (G) and Katy Kirby (Vo), in addition to Fenne's touring band.Mixing was done by Melina Duterte of Jay Som.
