Sasami is another new talent in the alterna-scene where Asian female artists such as Mitsuki, Japanese Breakfast, and CHAI have been making their mark! Los Angeles-based Sasami, aka Sasami Ashworth, has been hailed as "the next big thing in rock" (The FADER) for her self-titled debut album released in 2015 after a stint in the band Cherry Glazer, and her single "Callous" was The single "Callous" garnered attention, winning Pitchfork [BEST NEW TRACK]. She has since supported Snail Mail, toured North America with Japanese Breakfast, and is scheduled to tour Europe and the UK with Mitsuki in 2022. Her latest album "Squeeze" was produced by herself, and some of the songs were co-produced with Ty Segall.Other guests include Meg Duffy, aka Hand Habits, popular for her dreamy bedroom pop, King Tuff, who also plays in Ty Segall's band, and Christian Lee Hutson, whose Phoebe Bridgers-produced work has made a splash, and many others. The album was completed by inviting many guests. Megadeth's Dirk Berberen plays drums on "Skin A Rat," while New York singer-songwriter Leticia Tamko, aka Vagabon, and actress/comedian Patti Harrison provide guest vocals on "Skin A Rat. The material in this film expresses a wide range of subjects, from anger at institutional violence to matters of personal relationships. The raw aggression of new metal, the gentle simplicity of country pop and folk rock, and the dramatic romanticism of classical music are expressed throughout, with influences ranging from System of a Down to Sheryl Crow and Fleetwood Mac, to Bach and Mahler The influences range from System of a Down to Sheryl Crow and Fleetwood Mac, as well as Bach and Mahler, expanding the territory and possibilities of US indie music, which is once again producing a variety of new talent. The Japanese CD includes an additional bonus track, bilingual lyrics and commentary.
