Description:
Reger (1873-1916), who will celebrate the 100th anniversary of his death in 2016, left a large number of orchestral and organ pieces, among which a series of clarinet works, especially quintets, are as rich as those of Mozart and Brahms. The first two of the three clarinet sonatas were inspired by Brahms' works, and although slightly more complex, they have a calm and beautiful atmosphere with the smooth sound of the clarinet. The two pieces, "Tarantella" and "Album Page," are familiar pieces that are often played on the violin as well. The musicians are clarinetist Stefan Siegenthaler, who studied with German virtuosos Kurt Weber and Thomas Friedli at the Bern and Geneva Conservatories, and with Hans Krauss and Jost Michaels at the Detmold University of Music, and violinist and antiquarian musician Kolya Lessing, also known as a researcher. In the quintet, the famous Leipzig String Quartet enhances the music with their exquisite ensemble. Naxos Japan
