The fourth release from the astonishing duo "DuoGIOVIVO" bursts with virtuosic brilliance! The fourth album on the GENUIN label from the Switzerland-based "DuoGIOVIVO." Their defining characteristic is their multi-instrumental style, in which just two members switch between a wide variety of instruments. Fabian Bloch focuses primarily on the euphonium, while also playing the alphorn and bass trumpet (Wunderhorn). Muriel Zeiter, meanwhile, plays the piano as well as the flute and violin at a highly advanced level. Following albums like *Rather Romantic* (GEN22791), which featured lyrical melodies, and the Christmas album *Joyfully!* (GEN24884), filled with devout prayers—both of which emphasized a “sense of song”—their recent releases have focused on this “sense of song.” However, the theme of this album is, quite simply, “Wonder.” This is a thrilling entertainment album that fully embraces their signature “virtuosity” and “playfulness.” The biggest highlights are the numerous world premiere recordings arranged by Daniel Hall. The album features a lineup of tracks that push the boundaries, including a stunning track where the euphonium masterfully performs the extremely difficult “Capriccio Paganini (Caprice No. 24)” and “Hot Canary,” where the violin races along imitating bird calls. Furthermore, his genre-defying curatorial sensibility shines through in tracks like “Bella Ciao” (which enjoyed a revival hit thanks to the Netflix series) and “It’s a Wonderful World,” performed on the custom-made “Wunderhorn.” Featuring unique arrangements of everything from classical masterpieces by Kreisler and Brahms to jazz standards, opera arias, and even folk and children’s songs, this colorful program makes full use of the instruments’ unique characteristics—including a jazz-style arrangement featuring the alphorn.
