Description:
Tchaikovsky's (1840-1893) third symphony, composed in 1875, is subtitled "Polish" because the theme of the fifth movement uses the rhythm of "Polacka," a Polish dance. Then, the second movement is titled "Alla tedesca" (German style), so why not "Deutschland" as well? Putting aside the question, this work is loved for its brightness and liveliness that pervade the entire piece. The first movement begins like a "funeral march" for some reason, but the first theme is beautiful music in D major. The second movement is in three beats, but it is not a waltz, but a Lentler (which is a German style). The third movement is a calm pastoral music. The fourth movement is a light melody like a playful wind, typical of Tchaikovsky. The fourth movement is a light melody with a windy, playful feel that is typical of Tchaikovsky, and it ends with a powerful and majestic final movement. The coupling consists of four pieces from "Sleeping Beauty.As usual, Kitaenko delights us with a crisp performance that emphasizes the grand and heroic aspects of the music, but also strikes a delicate note.
