Description:

Gabriel Feltz! Mahler's "Symphony of a Thousand" on SACD! After holding the distinguished positions of Kapellmeister of the City Theatre of Lübeck and the Theatre of Bremen, General Music Director of the Orchestra and Opera of Altenburg-Gera, Chief Conductor of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, General Music Director of the City of Stuttgart, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Basel Opera, Gabriele Feltz has continued his distinguished career as General Music Director of the City of Dortmund and Chief Guest Conductor of the Basel Opera in 2013/14. Since the 2013/14 season, Gabriele Felz has been the General Music Director of the city of Dortmund and Principal Conductor of the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra. His Mahler symphony cycle with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, for which he served as principal conductor from 2003 to 2013, was described by the venerable online review site infodad.com as "the most unusual and controversial cycle of the last few years. The Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra's Mahler symphony cycle has been described by the venerable online review site infodad.com as "the most unusual and controversial cycle in years. And now, the 8th "Symphony of a Thousand," which he never recorded with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, is finally being released with his current hand-picked orchestra, the Dortmund Philharmonic. This live recording, made in July 2018, features eight solo singers, a 123-piece orchestra, a 44-member boys' choir, and a 126-member brass tirava and Brno choir, a relatively small group for the size of the Konzerthaus in Dortmund. The highlight is the SACD hybrid multichannel recording by the renowned recording production "TRITONUS," of which Markus Hyland is the tone-meister; the "Symphony of a Thousand" by TRITONUS is also available on Michael Tilson Thomas & the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra The TRITONUS "Symphony of a Thousand" album (SFS Media) won three Grammy Awards in 2009 (Best Classical Album, Best Choral Performance, and Best EngineeredAlbum), and the new "Symphony of a Thousand" recording is expected to be just as outstanding. The recording of the new "Symphony of a Thousand" is also expected to be excellent. Tokyo M-Plus
