In addition to a huge number of catalogue reissues, the release of the movie "Lanquidity", the 1978 masterpiece "Lanquidity" by Sun Ra, one of the most wanted jazz mavericks in the world, is now being reissued in 2CD/4LP format by Strut, a reissue company in the UK. Official reissue...! ! Originally released on Philly Jazz in 1978. The story goes that he recorded this album in one night on July 17, 1978 in the studio after leading the Arkestra on Saturday Night Live. It occupies a unique place in the fusion-inspired Sun Ra catalog.The title track, which starts out with a fluid electric piano intro played by Sun Ra himself and gradually invades a muddy groove, landing on a laid-back jazz funk, is a masterpiece that features Eddie Gale's trumpet on a heavy bottom with percussion (and a 12" reissue by Lavinhaight solidifies its reputation from a rare groove perspective). ), "Where Pathways Meet," an abstract funk groove with a deep bass line by Richard Williams, and "Twin Stars Of Thence," a space music in the style of Sun Ra.
