Charlie Watts is the driving force behind the world's greatest rock and roll band and the world's greatest drummer. In addition to his work with the Rolling Stones, Charlie Watts has left behind a discography of jazz performances and recordings on two LPs, an anthology album entitled "ANTHOLOGY". The album includes many great performances that perfectly capture his side as a jazz player! The world's greatest drummer, the late Charlie Watts, was the driving force behind the world's greatest rock 'n' roll bands and the driving force behind The Rolling Stones with his flawless drumming. In addition to his work as a member of The Rolling Stones, he released various jazz albums as his own project.Charlie Watts has left behind a discography of his own, frequently flexing his muscles as a jazz drummer in quartets, quintets, orchestras, and other various configurations in between his work with the Rolling Stones. This time, BMG is releasing "ANTHOLOGY," a retrospective work focusing on his jazz playing side, compiling jazz performances by this exceptional drummer with deep affection and respect. This work will be released in two formats: a 2-CD set containing 27 tracks, including 3 previously unreleased tracks, and a 2-LP set containing 17 selected tracks.The songs on this album were selected from the live album "LIVE AT FULHAM TOWN HALL" released in 1986 under the name of the Charlie Watts Orchestra, the 1991 studio album "FROM ONE CHARLIE" released under the name of the Charlie Watts Quintet, the 1993 album "WARM AND TENDER", and the 1992 live album "A TRIBUTE TO CHARLIE PARKER WITH STRINGS", The songs were selected from such albums as "WARM AND TENDER" (1993) and "A TRIBUTE TO CHARLIE PARKER WITH STRINGS" (1992), all released under the name of the Charlie Watts Quintet. The packaging also includes an essay by Paul Sexton, author of the Charlie Watts biography book, on Charlie Watts' jazz career and the important works included in this collection. The essay is a great way to learn more about Charlie Watts as a jazz player.
