Marc Almond is an aesthetic techno-pop musician who made his name as the vocalist of Soft Cell. Last year he released a collaboration album "Lovely Life to Live" with Jules Holland, and has already completed a new album. He has collaborated with artists from a wide variety of genres, from rock to soul, electro to chanson, while enriching his avant-garde, aesthetic, and one-of-a-kind pop sound. For this latest album, he teams up with producer/singer/songwriter/pianist Chris Braid, who is known for his work with SIA and Lana Del Rey. Chris Braid also wrote and produced the 2015 album "THE VELVET TRAIL," and this will be their second collaboration in about five years. The title of the album, CHAOS AND A DANCING STAR, is taken from a sentence in Nietzsche's "Zarathustra Speaks". The song titles also reflect the theme of each song.For example, songs such as "Black Sunrise" and "Dust" depict death, while songs such as "Cherry Tree" and "When The Stars Are Gone" contain themes of leaving something behind and saying goodbye. The raven is also a symbolic theme throughout the album. I wanted to write romantic, apocalyptic love songs and place them in a doomed apocalypse. It's a reflection of this ailing world we're living in. Other songs on the album include "Hollywood Forever" and "Chevrolet Corvette Stringray," which seem to be inspired by Los Angeles, where the songwriting was done. The first track from the album, "Lord Misrule," is dramatic and majestic. This song has the atmosphere of a pagan Christmas song, and the flutist on this song is Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull! This collaboration shows the depth of Mark's musical talent.
