Jacob van Eyck's complete recording of "Paradise of the Flute"! Paradise of the Flute" by Jacob van Eyck (c.1590-1657) is one of the most extensive collections of music for wind instruments ever created. Jacob van Eyck, a composer active during the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque period, was also a carillon player, a castor, a tuner, and a virtuoso recorder player. His works were dictated and published because van Eyck was born blind. The "Flute Paradise" contains an enormous number of pieces, about 150, including well-known church music and variations on folk songs. In this rare recording of the complete works, Simon Bortzki shows a wide variety of expression with his 26 recorders, from the deep, rich bass tones of the tenor recorder to the sparkling virtuosity of the sopranino recorder. German recorder player Simon Borucki studied recorder with Prof. Michael Schneider at the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt and later at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he also studied classical vocal music.He focuses especially on music of the 17th and 18th centuries, and is also the artistic director and conductor of the Berlin Recorder Orchestra.
