Howard Griffiths' Brahms Cycle! The Brahms Cycle by the famous British conductor Howard Griffiths and the Frankfurt Brandenburg State Orchestra! To commemorate the start of the Klanglogo label, we are pleased to present a new Brahms cycle by Howard Griffiths, the famous British conductor who has made numerous recordings of Brahms, and the Frankfurt Brandenburg State Orchestra, of which he was the general music director. The two Brahms cycles by Howard Griffiths and the Frankfurt-Brandenburg State Orchestra, of which he was the general music director, will be released in Japan with Japanese commentary. Howard Griffiths was born in England in 1950. A graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, he has conducted top orchestras around the world and has released more than 100 discs on various labels.The Frankfurt Brandenburg State Orchestra (based in Frankfurt an der Oder in Brandenburg near the Polish border, not in Frankfurt am Main in Hesse), of which Griffiths was general music director from the 2007/08 season until 2018, has been steadily gaining fans in Japan, including success in Japan under the direction of Takao Ukigaya. For Symphonies Nos. 3 and 4, the second half of the Brahms cycle, Griffiths has collected as much material as possible from the estate of Fritz Steinbach (1855-1916), a 19th century conductor who, like Nos. 1 and 2, was also music director of the Court Orchestra of Meiningen. The orchestra's fine tempo setting, exquisite balance of intensity, and subtle changes in accents are effectively expressed.
