Description:
A collection of works by Johannes Scherhorn, one of the leading contemporary German composers! bastille musique's 20th release is a 2-CD album tracing the path of Johannes Scherhorn for almost 20 years, from his original works to arrangements of works by Purcell, Bach, Fauré, and Satie! The 20th album released on the luxury Berlin label bastille musique is a collection of works by German contemporary composer Johannes Scherhorn (Scherhorn). Scherhorn works in a wide range of genres, from chamber, vocal, and orchestral music to theater music, and in addition to his own original works, he engages in a wide variety of musical transpositions from the Renaissance to the present day. Many of his works have been performed by international soloists, ensembles, and orchestras, and in Japan, "Fuka" was performed by Peter Eötvösch (conductor) and Ensemble Modern at the 1998 Akiyoshidai International 20th Century Music Seminar and Festival (music director: Toshio Hosokawa), with a Japanese title. In 2005, a portrait concert was held at Tokyo Opera City.He has also taught at the Takefu International Music Festival 2007, and his Scherhorn students, including Yukiko Watanabe, Chieko Doi, and Yasutami Inamori, are active in Japan. This album contains chamber, ensemble, and orchestral works created within the last 20 years, from 1996 to 2018. The rich content ranges from original works to arrangements of works by Purcell, Bach, Fauré, and Satie. A 56-page bilingual booklet (English and German) with explanations of the works and interviews is included, as well as a printed leaflet with photographs of the composers and the recording.
