Performed by contemporary music experts Michael Wendeberg and Nicholas Hodges, and recorded at the Pierre Boulez Saal in collaboration with Deutschlandfunk Kultur, this luxurious box set is of a quality worthy of a complete edition. This is the world premiere recording of the first draft of the first movement of "Piano Sonata No. 1," a different draft of the second chapter of "Structure No. 2," and Formant 1 of "Piano Sonata No. 3" (unfinished). The 64-page booklet (in English, French, and German) includes commentary by musicologists Martin Czenk and Olaf Wilhelmer, interviews with the artists and producers, and a leaflet printed with photographs and autographs of the composers and artists.Michael Wendeberg, the main piano player, is a German conductor & pianist who has served as music director of the Ensemble Contrechain (Geneva), permanent conductor of the Yerevan Opera House (Armenia), and Kapellmeister of the Halle Opera House (Germany) From 2000-2005, He worked intensively with Boulez as pianist of the Ensemble Intercontemporain, which Boulez founded, and is a specialist in performing all his piano works, including Boulez's 90th anniversary in 2015.
