The second volume is from the Sibley Music Library Manuscript! Andreas Behrens. Sonatas for recorder and passive bass by Giuseppe Sammartini (1695-1750), son of a French musician, who formed his career while growing up in Italy and later taught many Italian Baroque musicians in London. While the first volume (AE10306) was from a manuscript in the Palatine Library in Parma, Italy, the second volume is a selection of works from a manuscript in the Sibley Music Library at the University of Rochester, USA. Andreas Behren, who holds a Masters degree in both old-time improvisation and jazz saxophone, performs San Martini's music, which is still not fully understood and is rich in color, deep emotion, and mysterious sounds, with great technique, expressiveness, and wonderful improvisation.
