The traditional German conductor Georg Fritsch, who has been attracting much attention in Germany, conducts the Badische Staatskapelle, the orchestra of the Badische Staatskapelle in Karlsruhe, where he will be the general music director from 2020. This is a very fine performance that exceeds all expectations. Fritsch, born in 1963 in Meissen during the East German era, made his name as the general music director of the Kiel Theater for 16 seasons from 2003 to 2019, and is one of the few opera house conductors in Germany these days. His music is highly regarded in the 21st century for its traditional German quality and rigor, and he has been invited frequently to the Stuttgart Opera House and to the Geneva Opera House, where he was entrusted with Wagner's Ring, the centerpiece of the season. However, there have been few recordings of his performances, and many people first became aware of his greatness when he made a guest appearance with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra in September of this year. This recording is a perfect introduction to Fritsch's abilities.Although a regional opera house, the orchestra boasts a history of nearly 300 years, and Strauss brings out full-sounding, passionate, and eloquent music typical of Strauss.
