Based in Dortmund, Germany and led by female vocalist/composer Chris Braun, this rock band was active from the early 70's to the 80's. Their debut album was released in 1972 on the German label BASF, and was reissued in 2011 on the German label Garden of Delights. CD reissue! The smoky and soulful voice of Chris Braun, reminiscent of 60s Chicago Blues and Inga Rumpf, is often associated with FRUMPY, and indeed the opening track "Town Of Children's Blocks", with its aggressive organ and guitar, and the opening track "The Rise And Fall Of The Children", with its strong attack, are all very well-known. The opening track "Town Of Children's Blocks," with its aggressive organ and guitar, and "Anxiety," with its thick soundscape that incorporates a brass section and the unison of twin guitars, and the eerie, jazzy rhythm section, are truly FRUMPY-derived sounds. In addition to this, however, the album also includes folk-tinged songs with acoustic guitar accompaniment such as "Comfort Me In Hell" and "Magical Light," which are unique in that they are a perfect match for Chris' vocals, which show a more lustrous expression, and his rustic acoustic guitar strokes. The more lustrous vocals of Chris and the simple acoustic guitar strokes are a perfect match.The album is a hidden masterpiece of 70s Krautrock, with a variety of interesting contents such as "Paul," a symphonic song with a cool flute, and "Things For You And Me," a world music-like song with a wide variety of percussions!
