Poetic development of biblical passages A collection of Bach's masterpiece cantatas with texts by female author Ziegler Bach composed an intensive series of chorale cantatas, especially during his Leipzig years: in 1724/25 he wrote a total of 40 cantatas, all of which have a very consistent form. However, this habit ended in March 1725. Perhaps the (unknown) lyricist had died and Bach had to find another in a hurry. Christiana Mariana von Ziegler (1695-1760) was hired. A German woman writer born in Leipzig, she was financially well off and lived an independent life.In 1725, Bach composed nine cantatas with texts by Ziegler, which are not based on chorales but on biblical passages, which he developed poetically and incorporated many artistic elements. Three of these "Ziegler Cantatas" are included on this disc. The German conductor and specialist in vocal music and church music, Spöring, gives an impeccable performance of the three Ziegler cantatas. ACCENT
