Arabella Miho Steinbacher has shown remarkable growth in recent years, and has received many offers to perform with her. This sixth release on the ORFEO label includes Beethoven, which marked her debut, and Berg, which she performed with great success last year with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and Sudern. In 2004, when Kyung-Wha Chung cancelled his performance in Paris, Marriner requested him to perform Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the Orchestre Philharmonique de France, which was a great success and marked his spectacular debut in Paris. The orchestra made a spectacular Parisian debut. The lustrous tone, lush expression, and very musical Beethoven are heard in this performance.Berg's Violin Concerto, subtitled "In Memory of an Angel," is his last work, composed in memory of the untimely death of Manon, the daughter of his close friend Alma Mara. The music is lustrous and beautiful, incorporating quotations from Bach's cantatas and various elements of Berg's music. The finale, which depicts Manon's ascension to heaven, is performed with delicacy and power, leading the audience to be moved. ［Comment courtesy of King International.
