The first piece, "Pavane for a Dead Princess," is full of atmosphere with its soft horn sound and draws you in instantly, and the complete "Ma mère roi" is one of the most impressive pieces on the album with its beautifully delineated characters.Born in 1971 in Tourscoin in northern France, Denève graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, and has a distinguished record in his native France, including his debut recording for Haenssler with the SWR Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, Poulenc's "Stabat Martel" and the complete ballet "The Mare", as well as the Debussy and Roussel series with the Scottish National Orchestra. He has also conducted the Scottish National Orchestra in Debussy and Roussel series. This Ravel series also reminds us of Denève's affinity for French music, and is full of enough charm to keep us anticipating the next installments. King International
