GURU GURU, a renowned German rock band, is still active today, half a century after its debut, under the leadership of their guru Mani Neumeier (drs.) The band, which started out as a forerunner to Krautrock music, was founded by Mani Neumeier in 1968. From its earliest days, the band broke genre boundaries, experimenting with free jazz and rock 'n' roll, Indian, Southeast Asian, and African rhythms and styles to create a unique psychedelic and cosmic rock style that inspired musicians as well as audiences around the world, especially in the U.S. and Japan. The band has inspired musicians as well as audiences around the world, especially in the U.S. and Japan. Despite countless member changes, the band is still very active, playing as many as 40 shows each year, more than half a century after its formation. Far from showing signs of settling down with age, their live shows are still full of energy and enthusiasm for their listeners.
