This is another Schumann album, this time with a fascinating lineup of his masterpiece Piano Concerto and the highly technical Piano Sonata No. 3. According to Mato himself, it has long been a dream of his to record the concerto, the culmination of his years at the Athens Conservatory, and the Sonata No. 3 from the Paris Conservatory, a composer and work that has been a part of his life as a musician for the past 20 years. The album title, "Perplexed," refers to Schumann's duality, the former with the piano in the orchestra and the latter with the orchestra in the piano, a stylistic conflict that is clearly asserted in the performance and is very rewarding to hear.
