Born in 1932, Joaquin Atiucarro is a master pianist who says, "I always try to play the piano as if it were singing a song. He was trained by Jose Clevis, the pianist who premiered Falla's "Nights in a Spanish Garden," Marguerite Long, Walter Gieseking, Nikita Magaloff, and others. As praised by Rattle: "I have only heard such a sound from Rubinstein" (Mehta) and "Very few musicians can weave such a sound from the piano" (Rattle), the most appealing thing about Achuccaro is his tone. Schumann's characteristic swells and transitions of strength and weakness flow very naturally, as if the piano is singing.The overflowing songfulness of the opening of the fantasy is striking. In the Kreisleriana, too, Schumann's poetic sentiment is fully expressed from the beginning of the piece, which tends to be overwhelmed by passion.
