Remi Jeunier, a young French pianist who won the second prize at the 2013 Queen Elisabeth International Competition, is now releasing two albums on the MIRARE label. The first was a collection of Bach's works (MIR-268), including "Partita No. 4," "English Suite No. 1," "Toccata (BWV911)," and "On the Departure of My Beloved Brother," and this time, a collection of Beethoven's piano sonatas. The "Moonlight" sonata was performed during his 2016 tour of Japan, where he captivated audiences with his outstanding technique and sensitive expression. In the first movement, the mysterious melody emerges from the silence with a beautiful, cool tone that is somehow clear and evocative of a somber night. The lightness of the second movement is heard with exquisite tone and nuance. The third movement is full of energy and passion. This is a performance of Beethoven's music that is sincere, as if listening to the voice of each piece speaking to you.
