A remarkable album by Van den Eijnden recorded during the Frank Year! Includes "Preludes, Chorales and Fugues", "Three Chorales" arranged by Selva, and an original work by Selva! Belgian piano master Jean-Claude Vanden Eijnden has completed an album combining Franck's piano works with compositions and arrangements by Blanche Selva (1884-1942) on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of César Franck's birth in 2022. Blanche Selva was a French pianist of Catalan descent. A close friend of Albéniz and Séverac, Selva was a virtuoso and expressive pianist, but he also studied composition under Dandy, and his works include piano and vocal pieces. Frank's last composition, "Three Chorales for Large Organ," is not only a must for organists, but also the pinnacle of all organ works, and is frequently performed. Selva has arranged the entire work for solo piano. With such skill that he has given the world premiere of the complete "Iberia" by Albéniz, Selva has arranged the music that Franck intended for the organ into a brilliant piano solo.Bells in the Sunshine" was composed in 1904. Van den Eijnden won the third prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in 1964 as the youngest ever winner, and has since been active internationally, especially in Europe. She has released three albums with Gérard Poullet on the Palais des Degustateurs label: "Franck & Magnard: Violin Sonatas" (PDD-002), "Schumann: Violin Sonatas" (PDD-011), and "Beethoven: Violin Sonatas No. 3, 5, and 7" ( KKC-6551 / PDD-026). He also released solo albums "Schumann: Fantasias, Liszt: Piano Sonatas" (PDD-024). King International Inc.
