Description:

The next challenge for Lhoto & Les Siecle on period instruments will be a collection of works by Du Bois, the great master of "Harmonics". He is now one of the most popular conductors in Japan. He is one of the most sought-after conductors in the world today, and he has a full schedule of upcoming releases, beginning with a collection of works by the modern French composer Du Bois. Du Bois was an extremely prolific composer, but the CD itself is a rarity, and the fact that it is on period instruments is, of course, a first. Théodore Dubois (1837-1924) studied composition under Thomas at the Paris Conservatory, and while organist at the Madeleine Church, he also taught at his alma mater, training Ducasse, Magnard, Arn, and Florent Schmidt, and becoming director in 1896. In 1905, however, Ravel resigned after the controversial invalidation of his eligibility for the Grand Prix de Rome.In the history of French music, he is associated with the image of a villain. As a composer, he left more than 500 works, but today he is more famous as the author of "Harmony," a course required of music students at music schools in Japan, than for his musical works. This album features three pieces representing three different periods of Du Bois's long creative career. The early 1880 "Hrychev Overture," a symphonic poem subtitled "The Scandinavian Legend," tells the story of Hrychev. The piece demonstrates the secret art of orchestration with dramatic accents and rhythms. The mid-1897 Piano Concerto No. 2 is a grand concerto in the Romantic style, a charming work full of melodies reminiscent of Chopin. Vanessa Wagner gives a fragrant performance on an 1880 Erard piano. The late 1909 Decathlon combines a string quintet with a woodwind quintet and is full of organ-like sounds reminiscent of Franck. The sound of gut strings and early 20th century French wind instruments can be enjoyed to the fullest. Lhoto's playing is as brilliant as ever. The strong rhythms in the "Hrychev" and the romanticism of the piano concerto were both presented with crispness and drive. The lively life of the forgotten Du Bois works was restored. King International
