Mozart (1756-1791)
Description:
Jacobs' Motorek! A rare and beautiful LP of Jacobs' entire career is also available! Jacobs has finally recorded Mozart's Requiem. He started his career as a countertenor singer, and now, at the age of 70 (born on October 30, 1946), he has the experience, keen ear, and deep knowledge as a singer and a conductor to record and release this recording. From the very beginning, the soft tone of the orchestral music is captivating. The voices are clearly audible and harmonize beautifully with each other. The solo singers also show a dramatic expression without spoiling the beautiful soft atmosphere of the whole work. This performance is the crystallization of Jacobs's recent enrichment. The recording was done with the utmost care and attention to detail in order to capture the natural atmosphere that is the charm of the LP. The problem with Mozart's Requiem is the edition. However, Jacobs has chosen to use a supplemental version by the young French composer Pierre-Henri Dutron, which was carefully crafted to respect the Jussmeier edition. Using this edition, Jacobs toured Europe in November 2016 with great success. The recording was made in July 2017, after the tour, in full recording mode, with both CD and LP versions in mind.In the summer of 1791, Mozart received an anonymous commission to compose a requiem. The actual commission came from Count Franz von Walsegg, following the death of his young wife in February 1791. The reason it was anonymous was that the Count often paid others to write and publish his works as his own. The request was conveyed by the Count's notary. The gratuity was 50 ducats, half the amount received for the marriage of Figaro, part of which was paid in advance. Mozart's family finances remained tight, so the request was a "windfall. Mozart is thought to have begun composing the Requiem around the beginning of October. However, he still had to write about six pieces for the premiere of "The Magic Flute" on October 30, and he was also busy composing the clarinet concerto (K622), but he still tried to complete the commission. Incidentally, there is a belief that Mozart was not very active in composing religious music. However, from around 1788, Mozart was, for example, copying Reuter's religious piece "De Profundis" without performing it, and was trying to learn the Viennese religious music style of the time.Between 1787 and 1790, Mozart also attempted to compose a mass, fragments of which show new attempts at style.
