Isata's new album, "Mendelssohn," is now available." The album explores three aspects of the name "Mendelssohn". Felix Mendelssohn's brilliant Piano Concerto No. 1 with the London Mozart Players, the long-lost "Easter Sonata" composed by Felix's sister Fanny, and arrangements of Felix's well-known works by other composers. In 2024, Isata released the critically acclaimed documentary film "Fanny: The Other Mendelssohn" (2024), and in 2025, the film "Fanny: The Other Mendelssohn" (2024) was released in the U.S. -The Other Mendelssohn.The film depicts the life of the extremely talented but overlooked Fanny Mendelssohn (later Fanny Hensel) and reveals that the "Easter Sonata," lost for 150 years, was actually composed by Fanny, not Felix. Isata was the first pianist to perform this work as the correct composer. The performance on this disc is the world premiere recording of the new original version of the work. It was important for me when making the Mendelssohn album to include works by both Fanny and Felix. Only in recent decades have we finally been able to hear what Fanny composed.
