Description:
Schubert & Shostakovich: Viola & Piano Included in the program Schubert:Arpeggione Sonata in A minor, D821 (for viola and piano) Shostakovich:Sonata for Viola and Piano, Op.147 Performer Andreas Vilvoorde (viola) Daniel Heide (Piano) *Recording: November 2021 & February 2022, Paterskirche (Kempen, Germany) ☆Former principal of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and violist of the Mandelring Quartet, Andreas Wilvoer! ☆The second volume of C'Avi couples Schubert's masterpiece "Arpeggione Sonata" and Shostakovich's "Viola Sonata"! ■Andreas Wirvoll, principal viola player of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra from 2001 to 2013, professor at the Nuremberg University of Music and the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt, and a member of the Mandelring Quartet since 2015, will visit Japan again in April 2024. He performed at the "Patria Music Day 2024 Spring Chamber Music Festival" and gave a wonderful performance in an ensemble with the members of the Kyukyo Viola Quartet. ■His previous long-awaited solo album, Brahms (PCAVI8553473), won a "Special Mention" from Record Geijutsu magazine. For his second C'Avi album, he collaborated with German pianist Daniel Heide, a specialist in lieder accompaniment and chamber music, to complete the dense album "Schubert & Shostakovich". One of the most beautiful works in Schubert's legacy, the "Arpeggione Sonata," a masterpiece for the arpeggione, a fantastic guitar-like instrument played with a bow, also reigns as one of the most important repertoires for cellists & violists in our time. Shostakovich's Viola Sonata is one of his last works, the final revision of which was completed a few days before his death, and is the culmination of his musical quest and legacy. It contains numerous quotations and references from his own works, Beethoven, and Mahler, and the final movement is revealed to be an "Adagio in memory of Beethoven. (Tokyo M-Plus)
