Description:
Extreme metal band Ov Sulfur presents their challenging latest work, 'Endless', featuring songs commemorating and honoring lost family members. Emerging with their debut EP 'Oblivion' (2021), they signed with Germany's prestigious metal label Century Media Records the following year, making a powerful impression with their debut album 'The Burden ov Faith' (2023). Then in 2025, the band began releasing a series of powerful singles leading up to this work, 'Endless' (January 2026). Following June's "Seed" and September's "Evermore," "Wither" was released on October 22nd. This "Wither" is a noteworthy track that marks the band's new challenge. "Wither" is a unique number, the first by Ov Sulfur composed entirely of clean vocals. Behind it lies the sincere stance of the members facing the loss of family members at the same time. Guitarist/vocalist Chase Wilson commented that the song's origin stems from a desire to honor his family. "'Wither' is an atypical song for the band. I know Ov Sulfur doesn't usually write music like this. But we felt we needed to honor our important family, and in that process, a special song was born. I wanted to express my feelings for my beloved grandfather. I had so much I wanted to say about his passing. Ricky shared that grief and mourning, and he agreed to duet with me. My grandfather worked as an MC during the era of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. His dream was to succeed in show business and one day leave his voice on record. It's bittersweet that we were able to fulfill that dream after he passed away. The voice you hear at the end of the song is his. I wish he could have heard this song." (1/2)
