New horizon for a young world-class organist. Euphoria created by the fusion of classical and pop music. This is the analog version of "Fire Dove," the second release from Sony Classical. Toccata" by Eugène Gigueux, who studied under Saint-Saëns, and "Nimbus" by up-and-coming composer Yunique Tanzil, who is responsible for numerous film scores, are not recorded on CD and can only be heard on this analog disc. The album is the result of an overnight recording session at Nidaros Cathedral, a magnificent 11th century Gothic building in Trondheim, Norway. The wide range of musical genres on the recordings suggests that this is Lapwood's most personal album. The fusion of classical and pop music is nothing new for Rapwood, who has performed with RAYE, Florence and the Machine, and Aurora, and even gave an impromptu organ lesson to Tom Cruise during a late-night rehearsal at the Royal Albert Hall in London. At the age of 21, Lapwood became Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge University.The youngest ever to hold that position at both Oxford and Cambridge, Lapwood is now, nine years later, leaving her position to focus on her concert and recording career. She is a young artist who is bringing a breath of fresh air to classical music. In her own words, "I rediscovered my love for the organ in a whole new way after I focused on the music I truly love and stopped worrying about other people's preconceptions of it.
