Galen & Paul, the pop duo of Paul Simenon and Galen Ayers of The Clash, released their debut album "Can We Do Tomorrow Another Day? Demon Albarn is also a guest on the album. Galen & Paul is a pop duo consisting of Paul Simenon (The Clash, Gorillaz, The Good, The Bad and The Queen) and Galen Ayers, a singer-songwriter and daughter of Kevin Ayers, formerly of Soft Machine. During the Corona lockdown, Paul Simenon spent a year and a half in Majorca, Spain, writing songs, painting, and collaborating with local musicians, which proved to be a great inspiration. Returning to London, he further developed ideas and did more songwriting with a friend, singer/songwriter Galen Ayers.The resulting album, duetted with Paul and led by Galen's gorgeous voice singing in English and Spanish, is a superb pop album, incorporating French chanson, Spanish pop, and English sea shanties. Paul says, "I remember when I was in The Clash, my manager Bernie Rose told me about Andrew Loog Oldham locking Mick Jagger and Keith Richards in the kitchen. He said, 'I'm not letting you out until you write a song.' ' Galen and I practically did that. Every night we were writing another song." Galen added. I realized pretty early on that I had finished a bunch of songs, but something small was bothering me. I said to Paul, 'I think people will like it, but I think it needs something more.' And he said, "I think so too." And we wrote the songs until we were both happy with them. So I have confidence in this collaboration. There are no limits."The album's lead single, "Lonely Town," was written by Paul during his stay in Majorca and laments the ghost town-like cold that remains in out-of-season holiday destinations after wealthy foreigners and tourists leave for the winter. Produced by Tony Visconti, who has worked with David Bowie and many other greats. Band members were Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good, The Bad and The Queen), Sebastian Rockford (Polar Bear, David Byrne, Patti Smith), and Dan Donovan (Big Audio Dynamite) on many songs. Damon Albarn joined the band to play melodica.
