The complete Schubert cycle, which took four years to complete, includes the eight symphonies as well as an additional section from No. 10. The orchestra is a chamber orchestra with modern instruments, but it also incorporates elements of period technique and uses period instruments for the brass and timpani, and its singing and vitality is one of the standards of modern Schubert playing. Despite the small size of the ensemble, the spontaneity of each part is abundant, and the performance is lively with precise articulation and clear sound. The melancholy of the slow movement is also attractive.Antonello Manacorda, conductor, was born in Turin, studied violin with Hermann Krebser and Franco Gulli, and founded the Mahler Chamber Orchestra with Claudio Abbado, of which he was concertmaster for eight years. He studied conducting under the renowned teacher Jorma Panula, and is now very highly regarded by orchestras and opera houses in Italy and Germany. He will make his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2022, and on his first visit to Japan in July, he will conduct the Kioi Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Mendelssohn's "Scotland" and other works, Since 2011, he has been the Chief Conductor of the Kammerakademie Potsdam.
