World premiere recording of an opera by Guinobaldo, Spain's unique composer. Alberto Guinobaldo is one of Spain's most distinctive pianists and composers. Sony Classical has been regularly releasing albums by this original musician since 2014, and the latest is the world premiere recording of Alba Eterna, a 16-act opera in one act, based on a joint libretto by Guinobaldo himself and author Jordi Faula. The opera is a tragedy about time, love, and the inevitable cruelty of the passage of time, and the dreadful aria by the "Overseer," full of virtuosity and devilishness, is treated as a prologue, inviting the listener to contemplate life. Also, since the "clock that stops the time" is the key, the onomatopoeic use of ticking sounds is a distinctive feature of the piece. There are no boundaries in Ginobart's music, especially in this "Alba Erna," where Stravinsky's rhythmic and beautiful musical melodies coexist, and the unleashed romanticism reminiscent of Chopin is juxtaposed with fanfares reminiscent of Weill and Nino Rota, Poulenc, The musical personalities of Poulenc, Monsalvatche, and Bernstein blend together naturally.Guinobald's unique sound world is recreated beyond the pale of day by the Franz Schubert Philharmonia chamber ensemble conducted by Tomas Grau, who together with four soloists produce a delicate performance of immense beauty. Alberto Guinobaldo was born in Barcelona in 1962. He studied piano and composition at the Barcelona Conservatory and in London. As a pianist, he is well known for his work in Spanish music, including Romanticism, Turina, Granados, and Albeniz, and as accompanist for Maria Bayo and Flores. As a composer, he has composed numerous classical works, film scores, and musicals, including "Sea and Sky," written in Catalan, and the official music for the 2003 and 2013 World Swimming Championships. He is also known as a Granados specialist and has gained an overwhelming popularity for his classical works as well as his own piano performances. Sony Music
