The album features Renaissance keyboard works by Italian composer Girolamo Frescobaldi, English composer and organist Orlando Gibbons, John Bull, and Peter Phillips. Some tracks are played directly from the originals, while others are based on Renaissance originals and improvised by Tristano, making the entire album not just a collection of old-time pieces, but a fascinating mix of classical and neo-classical music. Francesco's willingness to use electronics (synthesizers, etc.), albeit very sparingly, on some tracks in order to create a certain atmosphere is typical of his style. Sony Music
