Recorder Jan Nigges, who studied with virtuoso Michael Schneider at the age of 15, formed Four Times Baroque in 2013 with four young players, only 20 years old at the time, and won the Opus Klassik Award Newcomer of the Year in 2018, creating a period instrument They have created a sensation in the period instrument world. He also gathered a group of young period instrumentalists and co-founded the "Vox Orchestra" with Lorenzo Gilleland. In addition to the recorder, from an early age he developed a love for other woodwind instruments such as the baroque oboe and the transverse flute, which he began to study. He has appeared as a soloist with his ensemble in concerts and festivals throughout Europe. This album, his first solo album under the name Nigges, features him with Baroque Avenue, a new small ensemble he formed with fellow instrumentalists and soprano Sibylla Elsing. The main works are concertos for recorder by leading German Baroque composers such as Telemann and Fasch, combined with soprano arias by Telemann and Handel (where the recorder also plays an active role).Baroque music played on the highly skilled and expressive recorder is delicately yet boldly intertwined with the other instruments to create an enchanting world. Sibylla Elsing, who participates as soprano, learned to play the violin and discovered her voice while studying at Wells Cathedral School, where she studied with Romana Noack; since 2018, she has performed Cupid (Orfe in Hell), Papagena and the Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), Zerlina ( Don Giovanni) and other roles in opera to critical acclaim.
