Description:
Thom Yorke's new solo film, his first in four years since 2014's "Tomorrow's Modern Boxes," is a remake of the classic horror film "Suspiria" by Luca Guadagnino, who has garnered attention for his work in "Call Me by Your Name," and has already created quite a buzz before its release. The soundtrack was written exclusively for the film. The album contains 25 songs written exclusively for the film, including not only instrumental tracks but also Thom Yorke's own vocals on "Unmade," "Has Ended," and "Suspirium," a beautiful song that seems to be an extension of Radiohead's "A Moon Shaped Pool. The album also features Thom Yorke's own vocals. Creating music for a horror film presented new challenges and opportunities for Thom, and "Suspiria" is a departure from any of his previous works. Piano/vocal ballads, krautrock-like modular synth pieces inspired by the film's 1977 Berlin setting, vocals composed of multiple layers, and melodies that convey fear, longing, and melancholy combine to create a musical spell that is both chaotic and cohesive. The album was written and arranged by Thom Yorke, and recorded and produced by Thom Yorke and Sam Petz Davies.The album also features the London Contemporary Orchestra and choir, with Tom's son, Noah York, playing drums on "Has Ended" and "Volk," and Pasha Manslov playing solo flute on "Suspirium.
