Through the beautiful melodies of "Walls," and the poetry of her songs, which appeal to people's thoughts and feelings, Barbra explores both her own fears and hopes for the future. In addition to three original songs that Barbra herself co-wrote as an Academy Award-winning songwriter, "Walls" includes songs that explore themes that are important to her. Barbra performs a medley of two of her many covers, John Lennon's "Imagine" and Louis Armstrong's "It's a Wonderful World," and she also takes on such classics as the Bacharach/David pop standard "The World Needs Love" and gives it a new interpretation. The album also features Bacharach/David's pop standard "The World Needs Love," which is interpreted in a new way.The second song from the end, "Take Care of This House," was co-written by the great composer Leonard Bernstein and lyricist Alan Jay Lerner.
