Leune Stolt is a member of The Flower Kings, one of Sweden's leading progressive rock bands, as well as Transatlantic. The Sea Within is the result of his idea of an art-rock band that combines talent with a fresh direction. The band is led by Jonas Reingold, a member of the Flower Kings as well as Reunay and a well-known member of Carmacanic, as bassist. American keyboardist Tom Brislin, who has toured with Yes and Meat Loaf. Marco Minnemann, an accomplished German drummer who has been a member of numerous bands and projects, and has also worked with Paul Gilbert and Joe Satriani. On vocals, Daniel Gildenloh of Pain of Salvation delivers dynamic vocals in a wide range of registers. These maestros, who are sure to thrill prog rock fans, each demonstrate their abilities to the fullest. For "The Sea Within," the band chose London's Livingston Studios as a place to gather the band members, who live in different parts of the world, and after six months of work, the album was completed. Many people will ask me how I would describe this album. I think a lot of people will ask me how I would describe this album, but it's almost impossible to put into words. If I had to describe it, I would say that it has the sound of The Sea Within. Our musical tastes range from progressive rock, jazz, classical, heavy rock, folk, punk, electronica, and pop.The sound is a successful fusion of all these backgrounds," says Reunay, "and the members' personalities are in perfect balance, resulting in a work that is hard to believe that it is a debut album. Furthermore, the album features a variety of guest musicians. The Flying Colors, Casey McPherson (Vo) of Alpha Rev, Jordan Rudess (Pf) of Dream Theater, Rob Townsend (Sax), a member of Steve Hackett's band, and, most notably, John Anderson, a legendary member of the band. The band celebrates the completion of this masterpiece with a lineup of eminent musicians, including Yes legend John Anderson (vocals).
