Il Giardino Armonico, an Italian period instrument ensemble known for its daring performances, has re-released the album "Musica Barocca," a collection of famous Baroque pieces recorded in 2001, The album features many famous Baroque pieces that showcase the appeal of Jardino Armonico's unique style of powerful and vigorous singing. From Pachelbel's Canon to Greensleeves, they have explored the possibilities of the works, making full use of the original scores, and their ability to bring out the rich expressive power of the familiar melodies is remarkable. The recording session, which took place in the church of St. Giorgio in Morbio Inferiore, a mountain village in southern Switzerland, during the winter of 2001, from January 29 to February 1, is highly textured and excellent.The engineer was Michael Bramann, a Teldec veteran who had recorded the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert with Arnoncourt four weeks earlier, and the assistant engineer was Christian Feltgen, who would later work with Simone Young's Bruckner and others.
